Riveristas Lexicon

Riveristas is the name for the Charlie Rivera-focused subset of the CRATBrat fandom. The name fused Charlie’s surname with the Spanish suffix ‘’-ista’’ (one who practices or believes in), placing him in the same linguistic tradition as revolutionaries and artists—Sandinistas, Zapatistas—while grounding the name in his Puerto Rican heritage.

The audience gathered by the 2025-2026 #LightForLogan campaign formed a proto-community around Charlie, but its members were not yet known as Riveristas. The named fandom coalesced later around Charlie’s visibility as a chronically ill performer who refused to hide what performing cost his body. Their community centered on disability advocacy, chronic illness solidarity, and fierce protectiveness of Charlie’s public image. The hashtag #PukedAndPlayed originated within Riverista culture and became a broader disability community rallying cry. #StillHere functioned as their quieter solidarity signal—sometimes posted with nothing else, because sometimes that was all there was to say.
